What the work is

Testing across the products we build and run, weighted towards the paths where being wrong is expensive: a payment that takes twice, a record attached to the wrong patient, a vehicle reported somewhere it is not. You will write and maintain automated coverage where it earns its keep, and do the exploratory work that finds the failures a suite was never told to look for.

A good deal of it happens against real hardware. A point of sale is a terminal, a card reader, a printer and a cash drawer as much as it is a web application, and a test that passes on a laptop has not tested the thing a business uses. That is why this role is onsite, and it is worth weighing that honestly before applying.

What we look for

Experience testing software you did not write, and the instinct to ask what happens when the network drops halfway through. Comfort with an automation framework, and enough SQL to check what the database recorded rather than what the screen said.

A willingness to be the person who says something is not ready. That is easy to claim in an interview and harder on the afternoon before a release, so we would rather hear about a time you did it than a philosophy of quality.
